Who are we?

Sanctuary is for people hungry for stories, silence, singing, and soup. You are welcome, whatever your age, faith, culture, sexuality or gender. We meet at 4.15pm most Sundays, either on Zoom or at 241 Koroit Street, Warrnambool. Message us for service details.

Our service is a mix of formal and informal. The liturgy itself is highly structured, but it allows for participation, movement, and a capella singing. There are always questions, interruptions and explanations, and usually a bit of laughter.

We seek to:

  • Cherish children, both as they are now and for the people they will become.
  • Honour whole selves – bodies, minds, hearts, and guts – in worship, work, and play.
  • Wrestle with big questions that have no easy answers.
  • Share life’s joys, sorrows, hopes, and fears, and open them up to the Christian narrative.

Sanctuary is a faith community of the Baptist Union of Victoria, and sister of South Yarra Community Baptist.
