This is a song I wrote a very long time ago. I remember walking at Stingray Bay early one morning. The sun was shining, there was no-one else around, and the beauty of that place just resounded.
When I’m at the beach, I often pray and talk to God, and just marvel at the colours/textures/sounds etc. Particularly details of the little natural treasures that wash up.
Back then I would sometimes sing as part of that (not aloud if anyone else was around!!). This song, and some others, came out of those times. There are three verses. The refrain is sung after each, with an extra refrain added after the last one.
MORNING STILLNESS
In the stillness of the morning as I walk along the beach
Hear the ripples of the river, as it flows into the sea.
The birds are sitting on the reef, and the rocks cry out your name
All creation praises you and I want to do the same
Refrain:
O Creator, God of Jesus,
To you I must confess,
That I’m humbled to be
A part of all of this
The colours of your palette God are beautiful to see
And the haze above the crashing waves as they pound into the beach
And the multicoloured shells and rocks, scattered at my feet
All reflected in the water are reflecting you to me
In the beauty that surrounds me it amazes me to think
That your love for me is deeper than the deepest of the sea
That no matter what I do or say it will always be the same
For your grace is never-ending and for that I praise your name
After last refrain:
O Creator, God of Jesus
I hardly can believe
That to you I’m more
