Today at the river, bedecked by falling leaves, Sanctuary baptised Arwen into the life of Christ. Here is Arwen’s testimony:
God has always been a big part of my life. I am grateful to have two incredible loving and caring parents that follow in the footsteps of Jesus. They have been such a big influence on my journey with faith and have always allowed me to choose my own path and my own journey with God.
In Ephesians chapter 4 verse 32, it says “be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ has forgiven you.” I believe that spreading kindness and forgiveness around the world is one of the most important parts of being Christian. I truly believe in Christian values and that is one of the main reasons why I chose to become a follower of Jesus.
I remember that year 7 was a big year for me. I was starting at a new school, with new people and new experiences. I really wanted a fresh start that year since I had just had a hard year in year 6. The door for a new start was wide open, so I made a choice. I decided that I wanted to become a better person and be kind to everyone and everything around me. Even though I didn’t see it as a big change in that moment, looking back, that changed my life. I was thriving that year, I was finally being challenged in my classes, my teachers became such incredible role models for me, and I made so many beautiful new friends who have been so loving and supportive of me and I am so happy that some of them are here today celebrating this special time of my life.
I think that my experience with spreading kindness out to the world was a big part of my decision to follow Jesus and live in God’s love.
I believe that God is at work in the world because of his spirit that heals the sick. As some of you might have heard our beautiful kitten Juno has been very sick recently and we all thought that she wouldn’t make it. The vets said that it would take a miracle for her to survive. My family and I brought her home to love and care for her in the last few days she had left. In those couple of days, we all filled our hearts with God’s love and channelled it all into her. Noah in particular didn’t leave little Juno’s side for those whole couple of days. He spent all day and all night praying for and loving that cat, and she miraculously started to heal. The vets had no explanation on how she was able to get better, but I wholeheartedly believe that Juno’s recovery was an action of God’s love and the holy spirit at work.
I continue to see God’s love and God’s light in this world through people, animals and the Earth. I believe that God has done so much for this world and continues to spread love, kindness and forgiveness into each of our hearts. It is such a beautiful thing to watch and I can’t wait to continue to see God’s love in my future and to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. I am looking forward to continuing my journey with faith and learning lots of new exciting things along the way. This is why I am giving my life to Jesus.
